Barry Fraser was first introduced to Rotary in 1977 as a Member of a Group Study Exchange Team (GSE$) to Pusan, South Korea. The following year he was invited to join the Chatham Noon Hour Rotary Club.  He became President of his then 127-member Rotary Club in 1987-88, the year the Polio-Plus Campaign began.

Having a passion for the environment he served as his Club’s first chair of the Environment Committee when 5000 trees were planted on 22 school properties 25 years ago.  More recently, he has helped lead with the construction of the 1.4 kms/1 mile Rotary Eco walking-trails now just completed in a 21-acre woodlot within the city of Chatham. He is a charter member of the RI Water and Sanitation Rotary Action Group (WASRAG) with a passion for the Areas of Focus of ‘Water and Sanitation’ and ‘Economic and Community Development’.

He and Carolyn have participated in two National Immunization Days (NID’S) and two Artificial Limb Camps for Polio victims, both in India.  In 2009 he was the District Team leader for the 4-member GSE Team to Brisbane, Australia, the location of one of the Foundation’s six Peace Centers.

He is a Professional Agrologist, a graduate of McGill University in Agricultural Science and served in a career in agricultural extension.

He and Carolyn feel fortunate to have 3 married children and six grandchildren. Together in 6380 he will challenge in promoting environmental sustainability in our six Areas of Focus and more awareness of youth mental health needs. He certainly looks forward to meeting and working with the many great People of Action Making a Difference in the District.
