Rotaract clubs are part of a gloabal effort to bring peace and international understanding to the world.  This effort starts at the community level but know limits in its outreach.  Rotaractors have access the the many resources of Rotary International (RI) and The Rotary Foundation.  Rotary International provides the administrative support that helps Rotaract clubs thrive.

Rotaract clubs evolved in the 1960’s as they sponsored university youth groups as community service projects and quickly gained recognition throughout the Rotary world as having international relevance.  In 1968 Rotary International approved Rotaract as an official program for Rotary clubs and on 13 March 1968, the Rotaract Club of North Carolina became the first to charter.

Goals throughout the Rotaract world include the development of professional and leadership skills, to recognize the dignity and value of all useful occupations as opportunities to serve, to develop knowledge and understanding of the needs, problems, and opportunities in the communities and worldwide, and to provide opportunities for personal and group activities to serve the community and promote international understanding and goodwill toward all people represent just a few of the goals.
