My Fellow Rotarians,District Governor Bala Murthy

During our Foundation Month, I visited Brighton and Ann Arbor as part of my DG Visits. I am so pleased to meet so many passionate and vibrant Rotarians. I am honored and delighted to induct new members and present Paul Harris Recognitions. I had to reschedule some of my November clubs to December, due to my unplanned travels.

I truly enjoyed meeting and inducting new Rotarians and tried to understand what moves them. Congratulations to Ann Arbor, Ann Arbor North, Chelsea, Clawson Hartland, Hwy M-36, Howell, Lake Orion Sunrise, Livingston Sunrise, Milford, Motorcycling Rotarians,  Royal Oak, Tilbury for inducting  a total of 21 new members in October. Two new Rotarians were honored to be inducted during the Foundation/Membership Gala and get inducted by RI Past President Barry Rassin!

As announced earlier, would the next District Governor be from your club? The 2025-26 District Governor Nomination - Expression of Interest announcement was sent to all Club Presidents, Presidents-Elect and Secretaries on Oct. 13th and Oct. 28th. PDGs and District Committees were added on the communication sent on Nov.13th and Nov. 28th. All our District Rotarians also received this announcement on Oct. 25th and Nov. 14th. These announcements have also been posted on D6380 Facebook as well on our district website. At the end of this bulletin, details of this has been added for your ready reference. To nominate a candidate, your club must pass a resolution adopted at a regular membership meeting, complete the District Governor Nomination Form signed and dated by the Club Secretary. Foundation & Membership Gala was a grand success!!

It was a great evening of celebration for the Rotary Foundation and all the great work and projects it supports.

The Gala buzzed with excitement and everyone came out in their glitz and looked beautiful!  We Rotarians do clean up well! A Great group of Canadian Colleagues came in on a bus (THE PARTY BUS) and danced the night away. RI President (2018-2019) was the keynote speaker and a delight to listen to his impactful stories of how Rotary changed his life and continues to inspire him. Below are a great group of D6380 leaders with Barry. Thanks to the gala planning team under the dynamic leadership of DFRC Ashish Sarkar and DMC Roma Murthy and their teams.
Rotarians danced to Motown songs with the band Denise Davis and the Motor City Sensations!
DRFC Ashish Sarkar committed to raising donations to the Rotary Foundation of $250,000!

Club Nominations Needed - 2025-26 District Governor; Submission Deadline: Dec. 12, 2022 or before

The Rotary Clubs in our district have many outstanding leaders, dedicated to providing service to Rotary and who bring positive vibes, excitement and leadership to our vibrant clubs. Serving as District Governor is an opportunity for these committed Rotarians to bring the same leadership and service to our Rotary District. Now is the time for your club to nominate an outstanding club leader for District Governor. Your club’s nomination is due as soon as possible but no later than Dec. 12, 2022. That person will be the Rotarian who serves as District Governor in the 2025-26 Rotary Year. As you know, it is an exciting time in our district as we have completed 4 months celebrating you and your clubs, in our 2022-23 Rotary year.

In addition to service to Rotary, serving as District Governor is an opportunity for a Rotarian’s personal growth and many new experiences, before, during and after the governor year. For example, past district governors may be appointed to Rotary International committees and resource groups, may be invited to represent the Rotary International (RI) President at other districts’ conferences, and are the only individuals eligible to serve as the district’s delegate to the Council on Legislation, as trustees of The Rotary Foundation (TRF) or members of the RI Board of Directors.

I am asking that your club consider which of your club leaders would be great leaders for our district and share the enclosed information with them. (It will also be on the district website at https://rotary6380.org/ ). If they feel they can make this commitment, I encourage you to nominate them for this important office. In general, the baseline qualifications are met by many leaders in the district. Please see below, RI’s qualification of a governor-nominee. Unless excused by the board, the person selected as a governor-nominee shall at the time of selection:
a) be a member in good standing of a functioning club in the district;
b) have served as club president for a full term or as charter president for at least six months;
c) demonstrate willingness, commitment, and ability to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of a governor in section 16.030.;
d) demonstrate knowledge of the qualifications, duties, and responsibilities of governor as prescribed in the bylaws; and
e) submit to RI a statement that the Rotarian understands those qualifications, duties, and responsibilities, is qualified for the office of governor, and is willing and able to assume and faithfully perform those duties and responsibilities.

To nominate a candidate, your club must pass a resolution adopted at a regular membership meeting, complete the attached District Governor Nomination Form signed and dated by the Club Secretary. Please send via email this completed and signed nomination form to balamurthy1 at gmail dot com . If your club would like someone to speak about the selection process or the position, please let us know. We can also schedule a time to talk with the candidates in your club who may wish to consider this exciting opportunity now, or in the future. If you have questions or would like more information, please contact me.

We look forward to receiving a nomination from your club.

D6380 Rotarians Travel to Nepal - You Can Help Their Mission!

Jen and Kevin James from Lakes area Rotary are fortunate enough to travel to Nepal for a sabbatical.

This is an opportunity for them to support, educate, and connect with the Children and Youth First, Life Vision Academy.
cyfnepal.org

We asked the founder, Haushala Thapa Zimba at Children and Youth First to make a wishlist of items they can take with them as they travel to Nepal on Dec 27, 2023.
https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3O8O00PJZP4JL?ref_=wl_share

If you would like to donate by purchasing something from the list, it would be a glorious gift to the children! They are also looking for financial support with purchasing warm clothes, school tracksuits, sponsoring a theater class for the kids, and other items while they are in Nepal. If you would like to donate, please Venmo Jen @jenloseyjames

Another opportunity to give is by sending old books you may have lying around on nature, science, and birds…(think National Geographic, zoo books, old class books)

Email Jen: theempathymom@gmail.com for the address.

“We love being fortunate enough to support many children in this org and it fills our hearts with joy when others see our passion and wants to help! Thanks in advance!”
