Buddy Bench Project
In July of 2018, Troy Rotary embarked on a project to help school children cope with loneliness, foster friendships and confront bullying.  They were drawn to the success of Buddy Benches which are safe places for kids to sit, talk and work things out.  Rotary values inclusion, kindness and peace, so they committed to installing Buddy Benches at all of the Troy Elementary Schools (21 total) plus two benches at the Troy Boys & Girls Club.

This morning, Troy’s Rotarians celebrated their progress with a special breakfast for all of their stakeholders and especially the project’s generous sponsors including TRION Solutions, APTIV, Beaumont Hospital, Tim Horton's Troy, Children's Hospital of Michigan, Community Choice Credit Union, Former Hill Elementary Teachers, ADK Sorority, Jeff & Debbie Lambrecht, REMCO Storage Systems, Charles & Nancy Negohosian, The Choice Group, Troy Community Foundation, Troy Board of Education, Troy Rotarians and Rotarians PDG Liz Smith Yeats of District 6400, Nick and Lisa Vitale and Sharon Lewis.  District 6380 Rotarians have also made sizeable donations.

The next phase of the project involves construction of the benches, which will occur on Saturday, May 18 from 8 – 10 am, at the Troy School District maintenance facility (1140 Rankin Dr.).  All are welcome, BYO tools, specifically cordless drills with 7/16 socket size.  Learn more by liking the Rotary Facebook page at www.Facebook.com/TroyRotary to monitor Project Buddy Bench.
