May 8th was a great day to be a Rotarian as RCAA presented the 2024 Robert S. Northrup Humanitarian Award to Dr. Robert H. Gilman MD, DMD, for leading 24 medical missions to Cartagena, Colombia to care for the children afflicted with pediatric deformities.

Dr. Gilman’s introduction, provided by nominators Bev Seiford and Greg Stejskal, supplied an understanding of his highly accomplished plastic surgery career as well as personal notes of his love of music as a drummer in bands, and recognizing his wife Chris Gilman in supporting his years of service. The celebration was attended by family and friends of Dr. Gilman as well as five of the six previous Northrup awardees. ARC and Peace Committee Chair Norma Sarkar presented Dr. Gilman with his Northrup Award and a Paul Harris Fellow Award. Dr. Gilman’s informative presentation provided details of the life changing work he and his team accomplishes annually. The correction of the childrens’ deformities provides them improved health, acceptance in their communities, and the ability to attend schools. Congratulations Dr. Gilman! Thank You for your Service Above Self.
